v1.20.0 Celestial Update Part 2
This is the second half of the Celestial Update (v1.19). Lots of new content and a lot of polishing has been done.
Here's what's changed:
New Items
- Meteor Staff: Summon meteors from the sky via right-click.
- Cursed Sight Staff: Summon Evil Eyes on other creatures.
New Blocks
- Rusted Iron Block: Replaces some of the iron in Water Tower and Underground Bunker structures for better realism and to prevent such easy access to a ton of iron early in the game.
New Entities
- Storm Creeper: Similar to the regular Creeper, but with a higher blast radius. It is slower to compensate, but very dangerous to encounter! Spawns naturally in the Deadman's Desert.
- Evil Eye: A detached eye which floats randomly throughout the Deadman's Desert. If close enough to the player, they will begin to follow and stare. If they stare for long enough, the player will randomly receive debuffs until the eyes are killed.
- Star Wolf: A stronger and faster wolf which is also immune to fall damage. They spawn naturally in the Starlight Plains biome.
- Skygazer: A villager-like NPC which provides endgame level trades. They are found in Space Observatory structures. They have the ability to increase enchant levels on your items!
New Structures
- Space Observatory: A small concrete structure found in the Starlight Plains which will contain a Skygazer.
Other Changes
- Celestial Tower will now passively summon meteors when the player is near enough.
- Doubled default range for the Celestial Tower spawn check radius regarding the Celestial Lanterns
- Some textures have been cleaned up and resized for a better appearance and lower file size.
- Celestial Fragment drop rate increased from 0-3 to 1-3.
- Rebalanced all item tiers for better balance.
- Deadman's Desert and Tiltros Wastes now have their own biome tracks.
- Compressed some larger sound files and adjusted volume.
- Add mossy stone piles to the Starlight Plains.
- Wall Shelves can now be locked using debug sticks to prevent them from being destroyed or items from being taken out of them, to help map developers.
- Updated tags and advancement criterion.
- Improved ticking performance of the Minuteman and Field Medic.
Bugfixes
- Fixed musket ball recipes not giving 8 per craft.
- Fixed small parts table not working on dedicated servers.
- Fixed language entry for the Explosive Chocolate Bar showing its actual name.
- Fixed the material and sound type of the Astral Crystal.
v1.19.1 Bugfix Release
This release fixes mob spawns with some entities not properly checking the validity of the block they are trying to spawn on, which was missed during the 1.19 -> 1.19.3 port.
Textures have also been optimized to reduce the overall file size by roughly 300kb. Some large material textures have been downscaled from 128x and 64x to better match other textures.
Additionally, configuration options have been added for gun crit chance, velocity, and inaccuracy to better help pack developers balance weapons.
v1.19.0 Celestial Update Part 1
Finally, time for another feature release! It's been a while. This is the first content update which reworks the Tiltros dimension. Additionally, 1.19.3 is now targeted.
Here's what's changed:
New Biomes
- Starlight Plains
- A peaceful plains-like biome. No hostile enemies spawn here; a perfect location for building a base.
- Tiltros Wastes
- A ravaged landscape (the old-style generation occurs here). Good for mining but beware of rock spiders and lava revenants!
- Deadman's Desert
- An actively hostile zone which deals environmental damage to all players who do not have the Celestial Protection effect active. Home to Celestial Towers.
New and Improved Structures
New structures include
- Biodome
- A small safe space in the Deadman's Desert. Inside, players can find survival gear and protection from the passive damage of the atmosphere.
- Celestial Asteroids
- Impact sites of asteroids in the Deadman's Desert which contain Starstorm Crystals. They passively summon skeletons in their vicinity.
Modified structures include*
- Abandoned Factory, Cloud Island, Hans Hut, Underground Bunker, Water Tower
- Decreased generation distance values to make them more common.
- Fixed a longstanding issue with the Underground Bunker where part of it would generate above ground.
New Items
- Astral material tier
- A new endgame tier which specializes in movement. Tools are fast and efficient but have lower durability than other endgame tiers. The armor set has less protection as well. However, a full set will grant speed and jump bonuses while also allowing the player to dash forward.
- When under the effect of Celestial Protection, its protection bonus will charge at a 3% rate instead of 1% when wearing a full armor set.
- Raw Astral can be obtained from mining ore with a Netherite-tier pickaxe (Netherite, Molten, Tesla, or Ventus). Turning this into an ingot is done with an imbuing process that uses the Astral Crystals found in the same area.
- Starstorm material tier
- A new endgame tier which specializes in raw damage output. Tools deal more raw damage than other tiers but have no special effects (like the Tesla tier). A full armor set will increase all outgoing damage by 20% but has no other special effect bonuses.
- Starstorm Ingots are obtained by crushing Starstorm Crystals (mined with a Netherite-tier pickaxe) with a piston from above.
- Azul Locator
- A device crafted from gold and spare Azul Keystone Fragments. Using it will teleport the player to their spawn point. It has a single use before breaking.
- Celestial Brew
- A potion which grants the Celestial Protection effect, which prevents passive damage of the Deadman's Desert's atmosphere. It also grants a 5% passive damage resistance. It is brewed with Moonglow flowers.
- Potion of Death
- Causes the entity effected to take 10% more damage from all sources per level. It is brewed with Deathweed flowers.
New Blocks
- Astral/Starstorm decorative blocks and crystals
- Stardust Wood block family
- Blood Sand/Sandstone block family
- Biodome Life Support Unit
- Only found in Biodomes. When powered, it will grant Celestial Protection to entities in a 5-block radius.
- Moonglow flower
- Deathweed flower
- Passing through these has a chance to inflict a damage vulnerability effect.
New Entities
- Starmite
- An endermite-like pest which has a 15% chance to spawn when breaking Starstorm Crystals.
- Firefly
- A small insect which provides more ambience for the Starlight Plains.
Other Changes
- Buffed Molten armor
- Since it previously had one of the weakest setups for attack prowess compared to other endgame tiers, it now grants a 20% damage bonus when in the Nether. Additionally, a 10% bonus is granted when in lava. For those who challenge themselves with Nether bases (and lava combat), this will be a good change.
- Reworked Tiltros portal
- The Tiltros portal will now check the destination world for valid spawn positions. This means it should always be at the surface of the world. Additionally, the target location is saved so the player will always teleport to the intended location. It will also ensure a player never accidentally teleports into the Deadman's Desert.
- Ventus ore now requires a diamond pickaxe to mine
Notes
This is the first of two releases which will target Tiltros. I am breaking them into separate releases because of the amount of time I've already spent working on it, and the last releases have only targeted 1.19 with no new features. The second release will primarily contain more entities to fill the biomes, but it will also have various other items.
1.19.3 is now the targeted version, and 1.19 is EoL. Will there be a 1.19.2 release? I don't know yet. There are a lot of breaking changes between that and 1.19.3 which make it very hard to maintain both.
Is the Immersive Weapons Compatibility Bridge ready? Not yet, I'm still waiting for dependencies to update before I can work on it. However, it will not contain any Patchouli docs for the new items until Part 2 is released, because I will probably still tweak things.
