Using a 5.1.23 or earlier version of TiddlyWiki

You can use TiddlyWiki 5.1.23 or older instead of the default latest version, but there are some extra steps needed.

Alternatively you could upgrade your site which is fully compatible with Tiddlyhost making the additional steps unnecessary.

Upload TiddlyWiki file

(This is just the usual way to upload to your site.)

1. Login to Tiddlyhost.

2. (Optional). Create a new site as per usual. Skip this step if you want to upload to an already existing Tiddlyhost site.

3. From your site's "Actions" menu, select "Upload".

4. Click, "Choose file..." and find the file you want to upload.

5. Click "Upload" file, and you should be taken back to the sites list.

Configuration changes to support 5.1.23 TiddlyWikis

(This is what you need to do to get Tiddlyhost saves working for 5.1.23 and earlier TiddlyWikis.)

1. Click on the site to open it in a new tab, then click the gear icon to open the $:/ControlPanel tiddler.

2. Click the "Saving" tab, then click on the "TiddlySpot Saver" tab.

3. Fill in something in the first two text fields, "Wiki Name" and "Password". It doesn't matter what you put there since the values won't be used, so just type literally anything in those two fields.

   ^{Your browser may give warnings about vulnerable passwords if you use something like "abc" in the password field, so it's better to type something longer and more password-y there.}

4. Click the 'Save changes' icon and you should see the usual "Starting to save wiki" and the "Saved wiki" notifications.

Explanation

Pull request #5455 is the reason the configuration steps aren't required for all newly created sites on Tiddlyhost. That change is included TiddlyWiki 5.2.0 and higher, but not included in 5.1.23 and older.
