Can not install Kalite on a new Asus Windows 10 laptop. I suspect Microsoft update KB4056890 is the problem

I have installed Kalite on over 100 laptops the past 12 months. I am using the laptops as servers in Africa/India etc. so the are all low cost. (+/-$200) The Laptops are HP, Asus, Acer, Lenovo.

I have never had an issue installing Kalite until this week with a new Asus laptop. When the install failed I exchanged for another new Asus and still have the same problem.

During the install there is a message Python stops working. When looking at the task manager it shows it is working but when the install finishes Kalite will not open. I suspect the Microsoft update KB4056890 that came out 9 January 2018 may be the problem. It seems to have caused problems with other programs. Tradestation stock trading program was down several days because of the KB4056890 update.

I reloaded a new version of Windows 10 on the computer but still have the same problem. Unfortunately I do not have a older version of Windows 10 to try. I am also not seeing problems with laptops that were loaded earlier.

One other point is Kolibri installs and runs okay but i believe it uses a different version of Python. I suspect there may be a security issue with the Python version Kalite uses.

Is anyone else seeing this problem and is there a workaround.

Thanks

Forrest
