Currently, a group is hidden in the feeds page if

  1. The user is on the "Unread" tab and the group has no unread items.
  2. The user is on the "Starred" tab and the group has no starred items.

This is fine for most users, hence making the change opt-in rather than opt-out. However, there are valid reasons for disabling it. Syncing the feeds of a specific group while on one of the aforementioned tabs is not possible and instead requires one to sync all of the feeds, which can be quite slow depending on the number of feeds. Thus, it would be beneficial if one could open the empty group and then perform the sync.
