How does the binary patching work and what exactly is patched

I see target bytes win.cdc
I'm curious what the binary patching is that's being done it seems like there's quite a few python hooks.

Interested in new ideas in terms of making this more maintainable and patching vendor changes more quickly but I can't do that without a thorough understanding and I didn't see a relevant discussion but I might have missed it.

To reiterate interested in any discussion of the binary patched portions versus the python library hooking.
