Imagine a delay that syncs to your playing with no sync or BPM.  If you are in the pocket with a slightly behind third beat, so is your delay.  Mess up and your delay is outside the box too. Or let the drummer control the guitarist's delay times and vice versa to a reinforce and augment a sense of groove. 

Status working prototypes in Plogue Bidule and Audulus 3, with Max/RNBO and PD/PlugData in development.  Need help porting it to app/vst. It can serve as a basis for many time-based effects and controllers as well, so the idea could move from just delays to a platform along the lines of cable guys shaper box.  

Also VERY interested in parallel processing in switchboard API.
