Why do we have those links in the .pot/.po files anyways? The URLs are fixed, don't require translation, and shouldn't be translated (because that would break the links). For that reason, it would be much easier to simply use the string in the links without trying to translate it.

We do have translated URLs in fact ( /who-we-are in English /qui-sommes-nous in French) for some texts in fact.

There is a proposal to address it here in bug #1818
