iOS 16 beta #57
Comments
I’m running Hoobs 4.2.5 the log looks like it’s working, but it isn’t working in HomeKit. I had it set up via automation. I also tried just manually flipping the switch, but it doesn’t activate the items. [7/14/22, 14:40] [Dummy Bridge] Setting switch to false |
Same thing is happening with me. The switch is activating, but nothing is happening in HomeKit. |
Ditto. I have a dummy switch using gps fencing to turn on and off in homekit automation to toggle my ring security alarm since ios16 it’s been failing to activate the automation. The switch turns on and off. I can test the automation and it works. But leaving it to its own, it won’t work |
Same issue as everyone else. Seems to only affect automations involving the arming/disarming of Ring home alarm. |
I also have the same issue. I have a dummy switch set to trigger an automation when controlled. The switch is turning on and off in homebridge, that is reflected in the iOS Home app, but the automations do not trigger ever since my homepods updated to iOS 16 |
Potential fix/workaround. My dummy switch automation stopped working recently. But, automations on native HomeKit accessories was still working. Today I noticed that my Apple TV had taken over as my HomeKit hub. My dummy switch automations started working again after disabling hub on the Apple TV and having a HomePod take over as the hub. Maybe restarting the Apple TV would have been enough. ATV > Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit > select the home listed under Home Hub, which will change it from Connected to Disabled. |
Thanks for the workaround lostformars. Yes, I only found over the w/e that restarting the ATV every time I updated the dummy switch, or any automations that control/run off the dummy switch, made everything work as it should. |
I have been running IOS 16.02 without any problem. Normally Apple TV 4K is the active hub. After some work HomePod (stero pair mini) started to have problem where a dummy switch running as delay timer. Switch was timing out but not triggering scene. Powered off Homepods. Force hub to Apple Tv. Scenes now being triggered by dummy switch. |
Same issue here on 16.1 beta. I don't have an Apple TV but am just running a Homepod Mini with an iPad Pro as the backup hub. |
I read above that Lostformars had the same issue but in reverse.. He had to force the Homekit Hub onto Homepod minis. Where as I had to force the the Hub onto apple TV. It's almost as if the command to run the scene is being sent to in my case the Homepod Minis. I am now on 16.0.2 |
I too started having issues with the switch activating via home app geofencing for locking doors, turning off lights and setting Ring alarm. It was stable until I went in and manually turned of my automations for one night while walking the neighborhood while my child was asleep so it wouldn't keep arming and disarming my ring alarm as I walked the circle. The following morning I reactivated the automations and they haven't worked since. My log doesn't show the switches being turned on at anytime even after making new ones but work when I test the automations in the Home app... Any help is appreciated! |
I have a very strange observation. When i try to edit my automation and then tap the "done" button (upper right corner) - no matter if i have changed anything or just opened it and resaved it - it stops working. In order to get it to work i have to reboot my home hubs (two homepod minis) - i have not tried to only reboot the active one, but always rebooted all of then. Once i reboot them - my automation that is triggered by a dummy switch works like a charm. |
That is actually a very good idea. I have only done the active one but I
will do my three all at once and see if that fixes it. Thanks!

same issue...intermittent problems with dummy switch automations triggering. the switch gets set but the automation based on that doesn't run, most of the time edit to add details: macOS Monterey on a 2015 MacBook Air, homebridge 1.5.0, node 16.16.0, dummy plugin is the only plugin I run |
Have you tried resetting all your hubs at the same time? |
yes I have. the strange thing is on the second or third manual toggle of the dummy button in the Home app will trigger the automation. its just when the dummy switch is FIRST turned on by an automation that it doesn't trigger the next automation. for example: the Good Night scene in Home would turn on the Nighttime dummy switch. Then an automation should run when Nighttime dummy is turned on to select several scenes (ex: scenes "Interior Hues Off", "Outside Lights On", "Garage Lights off", "Sonos Speakers Off") and control accessories (ex: kitchen light switch off, pause HomePods). I went back to physical dummy switches for my three important items. luckily I had several sitting around unused. |
I have updated to iOS 16 beta. My dummy switch isn’t working now. Not sure if it’s just a beta issue or if they changed something and broke the plug-in?
