Depending on how much extra damage occurred to the mob when it died, it could fly apart with some extra force. Do 1 extra damage, and it just falls apart. Do 20 extra damage, and it practically explodes apart in all directions.
Also, a config option for global gibbing velocity/force would be useful. Allows players to set it anywhere between "fall to the ground" and "explode across the room".
