Image Update Automation for Helm Charts from git repository source

I would like to use Image Update Automation for my helm charts which are in the charts directory of my git repository. In contrast to Image Update Automation for Helm Releases directly, I want to update the values.yaml of the helm chart. The helm chart is deployed by multiple Helm Releases in the cluster. The Image Update Automation is able to update the image version in values.yaml, but the Helm Releases, do not rollout an update, because the helm chart version in Chart.yaml is not updated. So the source-controller will not create a new Chart object with the updated values.yaml.

So the question is, how to manage helm charts in a git repository and automate the update process of image versions and then deploy them in the cluster multiple times with flux?

Constraints:

• The helm charts are cluster dependent and contain specific resources only relevant for one cluster, so I don't want to manage them outside of the cluster git repo.
• The release process of new image versions should be completely automated. This means a developer tags a new version, CI builds and pushes a tagged image and this image is deployed multiple times via one helm chart and multiple HelmReleases.
