After updating from 0.71 to 0.8 I have the problem that the sound whether OBS crackles as soon as you change the volume in OBS on the channel. It does not matter if the volume is increased or decreased via audio monitor or in the audio mixer of OBS.
After uninstalling 0.8 to reinstall 0.71 the problem is solved, so it is purely a problem of the current version.
Using Windows 10 21H2 (19044.1741) and OBS Studio 27.2.4 (64 bit).

I have exactly the same issue with 0.8.x and the fix is to use 0.7.1. Any time the sliders are used to change the volume in 0.8.x, the audio begins to crackle and never cleans up.
This hasn't been an issue as I didn't need to features beyond 0.7.1, however now that 0.8.1 is required for OBS 28, this is an issue.
As an interim solution, is it possible branch from 0.7.1 and update it to support OBS 28?
Just tried the new version 28.0.3. If the fader is in a lower position, like -40dB, mastering the volume up always works. I also could turn the volume down one time, but at the next time lowering the fader the crackling sound started again, also the whole UI of OBS starts lagging. After that I quitted OBS studio, that crashed my whole computer and I had to reinstall my graphics driver.
I'm planning to switch to the new version, because I want to use the new features of it. For the meantime I will probably use the audio mixer in the vertical layout, even if I will miss the main mix level.
