Context

There has been discussion around cutting a v1.3.1 release with a step that automatically downloads the mainnet genesis file

Questions

  • Where should we add this step to auto download the genesis.json?
  • What if a user already downloaded the mainnet genesis.json and placed it in ~/.celestia-app/config? Will the proposed feature be a no-op or download and replace?
  • What if a user already downloaded a testnet genesis.json and placed it in ~/.celestia-app/config?
  • Do we need to add a new CLI flag to celestia-appd start?
  • Do we want this feature for testnets?
