Follow-ups at some point:

more/better validation of schema definitions themselves (eg, that "max" is not lower than "min" if both are provided?)
examples/helpers for populating a schema catalog with compile-time embedded schema files
syntax parsing helper for "lexicon reference", which is an NSID with optional fragment; or fragment with optional NSID
