Currently the program provides an identification string which contains the name and time of the program. Even more informative would be the commit hash the build is based on. Maybe PlatformIO can be configured such that the hash is automatically included into the source code?

Definition of done:

  • It has been discussed which information is most meaningful to identify the source code.
  • It has been discussed what is a good compromise between build-time and provided identification information.
  • It has been researched how that information can be automatically integrated during usual builds.
  • The found method has been implemented.
