biothings_client. version specificity to 0.3.1

mygene python package (AKA MyGene.Info) is incompatible with the current biothings_client version (version 0.4.0, released on 2025/01/10). It is compatible with the biothings_client version (v0.3.1 released on 2023/11/13). Yet mygene doesn't require the earlier version hence the bypass in the gene-benchmark package.

Could you clarify in the issue title and text what actionable steps you intend with this issue? Ie, what do you want to have happen, and how will we know when this issue can be closed?

Note that the mygene package had its last release in 2021 https://pypi.org/project/mygene/#history and it seems development has been moved to https://pypi.org/project/biothings-client/#history which is actively maintained. I would recommend dropping mygene and just using biothings-client directly.
